V/Line train collides with car and truck in Melbourne’s outer-west
A V/Line train, a car and a truck have collided in Melbourne’s outer-west.
Fire Rescue Victoria confirms there has been a smash at the level crossing on Hopkins Road in Truganina.
It’s believed a truck collided with a white Hyundai sedan at about 11.30am, causing the sedan to be pushed onto the train tracks.
The driver of the sedan, a 23-year-old Rockbank woman, got out of the car before it was clipped by a train and was not injured.
The truck driver, a 42-year-old Maddingley man, was also uninjured. He allegedly tested positive to a drug test and is assisting police with their enquiries.
No passengers on board the train were injured.
Police are investigating the exact circumstances around the incident.
Hopkins Road is closed in both directions.
Buses are replacing trains on the Ballarat line between Wendouree and Southern Cross stations.
