Enter the New Age Pensioner
Marilyn Cunnington is fed up and calling for change.
Writing a fired up letter to the Age today, she called upon the media to stop depicting pensioners as wearing beige, baggy, elastic-waisted pants, bright floral blouses and eating half-priced meals at the local pub on a Tuesday and struggle to count money.
Marilyn, who is a pensioner herself, told Tom Elliott she is totally frustrated. She says and that the age of the old and boring pensioner is long over and called for the media to smarten up and update their libraries.
‘I think that we are now much more savvy than we’re being depicted,’ she said. ‘and I do live in God’s waiting room down on the Mornington Peninsula.’
