Derryn Hinch admits he’s rethinking his stance towards Sunday penalty rates
Senator Derryn Hinch admits he’s considering a backflip on his decision to accept the Fair Work Commission’s findings on Sunday penalty rates.
It comes exactly a month after he categorically told Neil Mitchell he’d ‘respect’ the commission’s decision.
‘I have to admit, I am having a rethink,’ Mr Hinch said on 3AW Mornings.
‘I do respect the Fair Work decision, but I’m starting to think I might be going to the third umpire here – the workers themselves.
‘I’m being flooded with specific cases of people who are going to do it tough.’
A growing number of politicians are refusing to throw their support behind changes to weekend penalty rates.
