Poowong family given new dog after losing beloved labrador in fire
A family who lost their beloved dog when their house burned down has a new companion.
The Elliot family from Poowong lost their home, possessions and black labrador Evie in the fire last month.
Neil Mitchell got word of what happened and wanted to help out.
And so did Border Protection.
They had a spare pup, too small to work as a detector dog.
‘The kids are deciding between Koko or Keely,’ mum Emma told Neil Mitchell.
‘I think Lachie and Hannah are still fighting over that (laughs).’
