Ambulance Victoria says the paramedics were set upon by three attackers as they were attending a patient at Hobbs Crescent around 6.30pm on Thursday.
An experienced paramedic has undergone surgery after he suffered a suspected broken foot, cuts and bruises after he was kicked, punched and repeatedly knocked to the ground by a man and two women.
His female colleague was also struck to the back of the head as she came to his aid.
The attackers got into a car which drove into the ambulance before speeding off.
Neil Mitchell spoke with General Manager for Emergency Operations, Mick Stephenson, who says – ‘Our number one priority is the safety of our guys to have a safe workplace’.
