Backpackers tax is ‘pretty stupid’
The idea of introducing a backpackers tax is ‘pretty stupid’ according to Ross Greenwood.
Speaking to Margy Osmond the CEO of the Tourism and Transport Forum, Ross highlighted the importance to the regional economies that backpackers bring to Australia, which Ms Osmond agreed.
‘On average a backpacker coming to Australia spends at least 15,000 during the period they’re here,’ she said.
‘They spend all of that in country towns and places that employ Australians.’
