The MCG could be in for a one billion dollar makeover.

The MCC has pitched a plan to government, which would significantly develop the sporting precinct.

MCC boss Stephen Gough told The Age the plan would include elevated pedestrian podiums linking the stadium to Richmond train station.

It would also improve security.

The Sports Minister has welcomed the proposal, without committing.
