4327 cattle finally removed from Portland’s swaying ship
RUMOUR FILE UPDATE
More than 4000 cattle that have been swaying aboard a listing ship for nearly a week have been off-loaded amid an investigation.
As first reported in the 3AW Rumour File last week, the M. V. Jawan was tipping side-to-side in the Port of Portland since Thursday.

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority later told 3AW Breakfast the ship had been detained and investigators had boarded.
With the investigation ongoing, authorities ordered the removal of the cattle due to continued stability issues with the ship.
One cow has died, but 3AW Breakfast has been told that death was “unrelated” to the ship issues.
