3AW uncovers little-known detail about new Suburban Rail Loop stations

New Suburban Rail Loop stations will be built without car parking attached to them, according to a little-known detail buried in construction documents.

3AW Drive was alerted to the little-known detail, with a Suburban Rail Loop spokesperson saying the new stations are intended to be “high interchange”, limiting the need for car parks.

Urban policy expert Patrick Fensham said several key factors were driving the decision not to factor in car parking for the new stations.

“They’re encouraging people to live in these precincts without cars,” he told Jacqui Felgate.
