3AW broadcasting icon Philip Brady OAM passes away
Broadcasting icon Phil Brady OAM has passed away, aged 85.
Brady, who has delighted 3AW listeners for decades, has most recently been co-host of the much-loved Remember When program alongside Simon Owens.
Previously, he shared a legendary on-air partnership with Bruce Mansfield across Remember When and Nightline on 3AW.

3AW Station Manager Stephen Beers said “Phil was a great friend to many, truly loving his work on air and helping so many listeners and colleagues with advice, companionship and friendship. Phil will be greatly missed by all at 3AW.”
Originally, Philip was hired as a booth announcer by Channel Nine in 1958, but quickly became one of Graham Kennedy’s ensemble.
In the 1960s and 1970s he hosted a large number of television game shows such as Concentration, Everybody’s Talking, Moneymakers, Junior Moneymakers, Casino Ten, Get the Message and Password.
Philip’s first stint at 3AW began in the 1970s where he was the weekend music man. On December 23 1990, Philip returned to 3AW where he began hosting Remember When with Bruce Mansfield.
The duo then took over the weeknight program Nightline in 1991, with Phil becoming a much-loved part of the program until it ended in late 2019.
Phil continued to appear on Remember When until January 12 2025, announcing his retirement from radio on February 2.
