Truck flips as Melbourne prepares for wild and windy day
A severe weather warning remains in place for damaging wind gusts in excess of 100km/h for parts of the state including metropolitan Melbourne.
The strongest gust of 117km/h has been at Mount William as well as 95km/h at Melbourne Airport.
A truck has blow over on the Hume Freeway, pictured above.
Simone told Neil Mitchell she had just come off the Craigieburn East bypass and found herself behind the truck that was swaying in the wind.
“I went to overtake it and something said to me just back off,” Simone said.
“Within two seconds of me backing off and not overtaking it, it literally flipped on its side.”
The road has now been re-opened but traffic is heavy in the area.
The Central, South West and parts of East Gippsland, North Central, North East and West and South Gippsland districts are all expected to be effected by high winds today.
In the city we’re expecting our warmest day in weeks, reaching 22 degrees before a cold change around 5pm with a high chance of showers.
