Margaret Court to boycott Qantas over same-sex marriage stance
Australian tennis great Margaret Court has publicly announced she will stop using Qantas where possible in protest following the airline’s promotion of same-sex marriage.
In a letter published in The West Australian newspaper, Court said she believes in marriage as a union between a man and a woman as stated in the Bible.
Court says she’ll now use other airlines – Australia’s other major domestic airline Virgin and its founder Richard Branson also support gay marriage.
Tennis Australia said it “respected” Court’s achievements in the sport, but distanced itself from her views.
“Her personal views are her own, and do not align with Tennis Australia’s values of equality, inclusion and diversity.”
