Indigenous councillor tells Pat Cash to ‘get his facts straight’
An indigenous Alice Springs councillor says Pat Cash needs to get his facts straight before “getting his knickers in a twist” over indigenous issues.
It comes after the Australian tennis great told 3AW Mornings he wouldn’t be celebrating Australia Day, citing the treatment of an Aboriginal elder at an Alice Springs camp – her water had been cut off – as one of the reasons why.
However, Jacinta Price has since told 3AW the camp was illegally set up.
“He’s been ill-informed,” Ms Price said.
“It didn’t have any proper facilities on it.
“The water being used there was being illegally piped through from another town camp, which was a health hazard.”
She accused Cash of “virtue-signalling” on indigenous issues, before launching an attack on Greens leader Richard Di Natale.
